I was actually out of the country for the season premiere of Cycle 7, so I had to watch the replay last night.  I’m glad the the CW is keeping the tradition of replaying the show alive. 

On with the show!  Or just a quick review of my thoughts on the models…

The Twins - ug.  Too skinny, and not pretty.  I’m highly doubting they can Shandify them.

Jaeda - Yeah, she’s a little manish, but I’m okay with it.

A.J. - She’s what we’d call in fantasy basketball "a sleeper."  She doesn’t quite look like she’s ready to win it, but she’s good looking enough, and could end up being fierce. Actually, I guess she’s not that much of a sleeper according to this poll.  As of the time of this post, she was second behind Anchal with almost 25% of 962 voters.

Anchal - Sorry, but could we get a decent looking Indian girl on the show? I don’t mean that to be racist or anything.  I’m just saying… besides the African and African-Americans they’ve had, there really hasn’t been any decent representation for any other (American) minority.  The "Latinas" are always "curvaceous," the Indian girls aren’t the best looking Indian girls I’ve seen even in real life, and the same for the Asian girls.  Part of my thinks there’s something culturally at work, but I have no actual basis for that opinion.

Brooke - Bears a striking resemblence to Reese Witherspoon, but I like it.  Obviously the cheerleader of the group - she was clearly genuinely concerned when Melrose went to the bathroom crying after her photoshoot.  Her compassion could be her weakness…

Caridee - I might like her more if it weren’t for the name.

Christian - Yes, she was cut.  But she was/is better looking than at least 4 of the girls who are left - and should have left. 

Eugena - I’m not sure that I remember anything remarkable about her… Ooops.

Kim - Sorry… I mean Megan. She’s got as much of a chance as Kim, right?  Which is to say, she’ll do okay, but I can’t see her winning.  ANTM needs to get away from casting the same people more than once.  Especially when it’s this obvious.

Megg - Another sleeper.  She needs to chill with the whole rocker thing.  Like the enthusiam, don’t like the fake-raspy singing.  I have to wonder if she’s really being herself, or just accentuating her personality to make for more interesting television.  If she tones it down a little and really focuses, I can see her getting to the end.

Melrose - I don’t like her.  I think maybe she could improve with a good makeover, but right now, it ain’t happening. 

Monique - Too bad she’s the sole rep from Chicago, because she’s giving us a bad name.  They had to have a bitch, right?  Otherwise, who’s going to cause any drama?  You almost have to wonder if they offer them extra money to fit a certain role they need for the show.  Like, "Here’s $10,000 if you piss off everyone in the house."

As a final note, the CW needs to do something about the ANTM page.  Yeah, it’s fancy and all, but it takes forever just to go through the models.  And the main menu is very non-intuitive.  As someone who works in User Interface design, I can tell this was made by someone with great web animation / Flash skills, but without a lot of actual thought to UI.  Or else, they did too much of what the execs wanted instead of trying to talk them out of all the Flashy-ness of it.
